What's your point, exactly? If someone wishes to live outside of your food ethics, and choose a different life, it's on them.

That's a bold statement, I've seen it estimated more at three generations or something like that.

@nibor - jump Given that my skin is incorporeal, I doubt that would be very pleasant for you. Unless you mean our body's skin, in which case you'll find that perhaps even less pleasant unless you have a thing for Rimworld-style human skin leather.

I usually have run-away thoughts, kinda like ADHD but how I think. So I randomly think of things and just blame it on my Asperger's. Does anyone know if this works cause complications when creating a tulpa? I'm having those random thoughts, but it's hard to necessarily pin them on somebody else in my head when I've been ignoring those random thoughts my life.
Avatar
It shouldn't innately cause issues. Intrusive thoughts that are really mean or self-critical are the bad space, and if you get those you shouldn't allow your tulpa to think them, essentially. You disbelieve them for what they are: mean spirited impulse and randomness. I have ADHD, and focus was an issue for me though. Ultimately the best way to deal with wandering thoughts is to prioritize fun. If you can make tulpamancy fun and easy rather than a chore, you will naturally keep it in your focus more often. Avoid treating lapses in focus like they're a bad thing, and ensure you're treasuring success.
Avatar

How do you define who thinks a thought? Usually, I just think of a response in my head- either after some thought, or as a quick response. Then I assign the thought to me or my to-be tulpa. But this feels like I'm just labeling thoughts after they've been had, and sometimes I feel like I get them wrong. I don't necessarily feel like these thoughts could come with their own voice, but must be labeled afterwards. Am I doing something wrong?

You are either not hearing, or not applying, or using your own sense of presence their thoughts should have as a different marker to yours. Consider this: When you speak in your own head, you know who you are, even though you can think from other perspectives, like that of a character, or a relative or whoever else. Every perspective that you understand should have a "presence" or a signature or a soul if you're feeling spiritual. It's difficult to describe, but there is a feeling behind every train of thought.
10:04 PM
The feeling contains their entire emotional state and the knowledge they are them.
10:04 PM
Just as you know you are you when you think.
10:05 PM
You should actively feel or apply that kind of label.
Avatar
I'm sorry, but I don't feel that at all. The only thing I'm hearing are vague replies that I wouldn't say myself. My favorite color is green, or lime. I asked my tulpa what their favorite color was, and the word "yellow" appeared for a moment- Almost like a thought of the word yellow, and the image of the color yellow. But the thought didn't come with a voice, and it didn't come with any identifiable "I am season's tulpa, I am saying this" marker. It just.. wasn't my marker. It was no marker. Just a random thought that popped up, and I had to choose whether that random thought made sense coming from my mouth, or if it must've been someone else. Sure enough, my favorite color almost certainly is not yellow. Does that mean my tulpa said "yellow"? Or am I just mis-interpreting random noise in my head?
10:09 PM
I just started the process of creating this tulpa, so I don't even know if they're there to begin with. I could just be parroting and puppeting everything. A lot of guides say that it can help to do this until those random thoughts start forming on their own, am I doing everything correctly?
Avatar
Maybe I should focus on giving my tulpa their own voice. If I start hearing narration in that voice, that means it's them yeah?
Avatar
You can build up the marker over time. If you ask your tulp's favorite color and they say yellow, go with it, ascribe that to them, and try to get more thoughts out of them

What you are describing is impulse. This is how automatic thought feels in general, and it can be your tulpa or not. The question I suppose I would ask is: Do you have any idea what your tulpa is like? Have you started by defining a personality at all? You probably won't have any sort of sense of them if you don't. A lot of old guides seem to show a preference for creating a tulpa in a complete vacuum, but I honestly think that's inadvisable and you should know what you want going in and imagine that.
Avatar
Alright, I'll start with that then. It's fine if I make a character sheet for them and stuff, and just update it as we go along right? Like Yuka said, ascribe new things to them if it comes up. Let my tulpa change their character sheet over time as they develop.
Avatar
I would say to think in terms of stereotypes and archetypes. A list of character traits can be deceptively useless - You need to know the why and how of who they are. A real understanding of a personality.
11:18 PM
Archetypes can only be like a few words, but they are complex modes of behaviour.
Avatar
I'm new to this stuff, so apologies if I'm not understanding it right away. So I should make a character based on an "archetype", try to pin-point that character in my headspace and listen for out for anything they might say, then allow them to mature and change themselves on their own?
Avatar
If they do change at all, yes. The goal should be to have a real feel for their personality and drives. For instance, Rhys, my tulpa, has an almost dadish vibe to him. He's a big ol' thoughtful, calm, big guy. Think of the vibes you're going for.
11:25 PM
The vibe is the root of how you'll pick them out.

@Deleted User - jump Not "if it comes up," rather if it makes sense for them to be saying it. If you have random thoughts all the time from ADHD or monkey mind, you don't need to start ascribing thoughts you would have had as a singlet to them. Instead, talk to your tulpa, interact with them directly, and ascribe to them the responses that come from that
Avatar
I just haven't gotten a proper response is all. I've always had this problem. I feel like I'm supposed to be getting some kind of response, but the only responses I ever get is random thoughts from monkey-mind that I just label as theirs. I mean, I had a tulpa long ago. They could switch in and take over and stuff, but I never got a response from them unless they were actively swapped in. I was never able to get a reply just by communicating.
11:35 PM
Sorry for all of the trouble, I appreciate the help I've received. I'm just not sure how to look out for something I've never experienced.

Perhaps you need to lower your standards? Ultimately their thoughts shouldn't feel any different from any old imaginary response. The thing that changes is you accepting their thoughts, not the thoughts themselves.

Big dramatic hallucinations or big bleed events are a rarity usually caused by lots of intense emotion or meditation, they're not normal.
